He sank onto the edge of his bed, his head cradled in his hands. He wanted to make her happy, to not regret this marriage. He wanted her, period, as much as he had the night they conceived their child, as he had from the minute he laid eyes on her. But to truly have her, he’d have to let go.

And that simply wasn’t an option.
